Energy Complex Company Limited secures the Energy Technology Initiative of the Year - Thailand at the Real Estate Asia Awards

It was honoured for pioneering sustainable architecture and energy conservation efforts.

Energy Complex Company Limited (EnCo), embarking on its 20th anniversary in 2024, clinched the prestigious Energy Technology Initiative of the Year - Thailand award at the 2024 Real Estate Asia Awards for an impressive showcase of commitment to sustainability and innovative energy management. This accolade recognises EnCo's exceptional contributions to energy-efficient building practices, epitomised by its flagship EnCo Smart Solutions.

The Energy Complex, a striking example of sustainable construction, has set a new benchmark in the real estate sector. Awarded the LEED Platinum (Core and Shell) certification, this structure is not just a building but a beacon of environmental stewardship and technological innovation. With its design and operations strictly aligning with global standards, EnCo’s facility stands as a testament to cutting-edge architectural technology aimed at optimising energy use.

EnCo's strategic energy management plays a pivotal role in its success. The building incorporates intelligent systems that monitor and control energy consumption meticulously, contributing significantly to the building's overall energy efficiency. These initiatives have positioned the Energy Complex as a Sustainable, Intelligent, and Green Building, embracing the principles of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and meeting the stringent requirements of ASHRAE 90.1 Version 2004.

Throughout 2023, EnCo launched several impactful projects to further its sustainability goals. These included the improvement and modification of the cooling tower, which enhanced its efficiency by 66.6%, and the replacement of outdated chillers with high-efficiency models. These changes alone have led to a reduction in the building's energy consumption and a substantial decrease in greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the standards set by Thailand's Ministry of Energy.

Moreover, the installation of advanced valve systems and Variable Speed Drives (VSD) for the cooling water pump has streamlined the Energy Complex’s operations, ensuring optimal performance and significant energy savings. The specific energy consumption (SEC) of the facility has seen a remarkable reduction, from 100 kWh/sqm in 2009 to less than 80 kWh/sqm in 2023, showcasing the effectiveness of these improvements.

EnCo's commitment extends beyond mere operational enhancements. The company actively supports sustainable initiatives like electricity generation from solar cells, with a significant capacity already installed and plans for expansion. Additionally, EnCo’s collaboration with Combined Heat, Power, and Power Plants Co., Ltd. (CHPP) has further reduced the complex’s electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, supporting the PTT Group's Net Zero target for 2050.

This holistic approach not only underscores EnCo’s dedication to operational efficiency and environmental responsibility but also positions the company as a leader in tackling emerging challenges in real estate and facility management. The Real Estate Asia Awards 2024 has rightly spotlighted EnCo’s achievements, heralding a new era of energy technology in the industry.
